Things have been pretty quiet here, but a lot has been going on! Here is a long-overdue production update!
First off, our short film Free: A Delantare Story has been accepted into the 2016 Paonia Film Festival! It will be screening on April 29th, and we’ll find out if it wins anything during the award ceremony on April 30th!
As you may have already seen, we’ve received a few amazing pieces of art from our concept artist Bart Willard! The first is a promotional piece featuring the three time periods of the story: Old West, modern day, and distant future.
The second piece is a concept gallery of a mysterious sword that plays a vital part of the story, linking our characters across time!
Next, Tim Nolte, who co-wrote the pilot script, has agreed to step in as co-showrunner for the series! This was a natural step, as he has served as a sounding board and creative consultant since we began developing the series in earnest.
And finally, during our conversations, Tim and I (Zack Lawrence) have also decided that with our budget and resources, the story will be better presented as a web series, rather than pursuing traditional TV avenues. This will also allow us to maintain greater creative control in bringing the story to life. And so, we’ve split the pilot script into 3 smaller episodes, and have begun working on the next set of scripts to complete Season 1!
It’s a slow process, but we’re steadily making progress toward production! Keep an eye on our Facebook and Twitter pages to stay up to date on the latest! We’d also appreciate any help you can give in our fundraising efforts! The sooner we raise the funds we need, the sooner we can go into production!
